Seeking happiness in the city [Being Indian & Christian #13]
Happiness equation, why secularisation is good news; and Instagram page
Hi Friends,
I hope everyone has been keeping well. It’s been a while since I wrote to you all. Do bear with me. I’m still trying to become more regular with my writing.
One of the excitements developments over the past few weeks has been my wife creating an Instagram page for Being Indian and Christian. If you would like to get a small summary of the articles I write in your Instagram feed, consider following the page.
I have 2 essays to share with you all today.
Here are the links for this edition
YOLO (You Only Live Once) – Do what makes you happy – Jeyapaul Caleb
We told people to follow their dreams --- pursue careers that they were passionate about... We asked people to get rid of things if it did not spark joy... We asked people to prioritise self-care... We want to do what makes us happy. But there doesn't seem to be a clear 3-step process for how to be happy.
You Only Live Once. You should do what makes you happy.
And I’ll tell you what makes you happy.
Worshipping God.
For eternity.
Gospel Renewal of the Secular Indian – Jeyapaul Caleb
Due to the effects of urbanisation and globalisation, India is becoming secular.
How can the church respond to this secularisation?
Seek out the migrant with the good news about the kingdom of Jesus. In the city where the grip of society and culture is looser, individuals are freer to embrace Christ.
Seek the gospel renewal of culture. Christians can seek the gospel renewal of culture by allowing the gospel to speak into every aspect of culture. This can be done when they allow the gospel to influence the science books they write, the economic ideas they propagate or the YouTube videos they create.
Theology in Telugu
I’ve always desired that good Bible teaching be made accessible to people in the regional languages of the country. A good friend of mine created the Instagram page Theology in Telugu. If you speak Telugu or know people who do, feel free to follow and recommend the page. Click here to follow

That’s it for today folks,
