Peace on earth [Being Indian & Christian #9]
Reflections on violence over the Ram Navami Processions in various cities
Hi friends,
A few days ago, after a meeting of our church’s small fellowship group, a friend was telling me how he likes to follow news and politics because he gets to see how human sin and brokenness play out in the life of our country. I think that is an important observation that my friend made. Evidence of sin and brokenness is all around us. Over the past few weeks, we have been seeing incidents of violence in various cities in India where members of the Hindu and Muslim communities clashed during the Ram Navami processions. What is our response as peacemakers in a fallen world? That is what I explore in my blog post this week.
Blog Post of the Week
Citizens of the kingdom of God are called to be peacemakers. They are called to be apostles of peace -- 'sent' by their King -- the Prince of Peace. But how do we do that in the midst of violence and strife?
Useful Podcast recommendation
If I am to be completely honest, chances are high that news of the entire violence might have passed by without my being aware of it. As much as I try to be regular with reading the newspaper, I often fail to do so. One of the avenues that has made it quite easy for me to follow the news over the past few weeks has been the podcast 3 Things by the Indian Express. I love listening to podcasts. And the format of the podcast, where we are given 3 important news stories for the day, and why they matter to us. I shared it earlier as well. But I find it highly useful and thought I’d share it again.
That’s it for this week folks! See you next week!
Cheers,
Caleb
